1. A
method was developed and validated for analysis of phospholipids
in lecithin by HPLC with Light Scattering Detection. The method AM101
can be obtained from the Analytical Secretary
Bernd Diehl or the
Executive Director Willem van Nieuwenhuyzen. This method is approved
as Official Analytical Method AOCS Ja 7c-07 and DGF F-I
6a (00). This
method
determines
the main phospholipids PC, PE, PI, PA, LPC and N-Acyl PE.
2. For
hydrolysed lecithins attempts are made to develop a HPLC method
for quantitative analysis of all the 4lysophospholipids LPC, LPE,
LPI and LPA. Due to baseline fluctuations and insufficient peak
segregation, statistical reproducibility between laboratories failed
so far. Method AM 101 can be used with acceptable repeatability
in laboratories for following e.g. processing.
3. New
HPTLC equipment may encourage the development of a HPTLC method
for the determination of all classes of phospholipids in hydrolyzed
lecithin. Method DGF F-I (99) describes the procedure for standard
lecithin.
4.
A 31P-NMR round robin (ring test) was organized at request of AOAC
by ILPS Analytical Secretary Dr Bernd Diehl in years
2007-8. This analytical method analyzes quantitatively over 15 Phospholipid
classes. Results have been presented at various conferences. Publication
of the report is in press. For enquires please contact Dr Diehl.
